Abengoa (MCE: ABG/P:SM), the international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the infrastructure, energy and water sectors, has been awarded two new infrastructure contracts for the mining company Southern Copper. The works will be carried out in the south of the country, in the mining units of Cuajone and Toquepala for an amount of approximately $30 million.
On the one hand, in the Cuajone copper mine, Abengoa will be responsible for the execution of a retention dam with a capacity of 40,000 m3, at an approximate altitude of 3,500 meters. The works include excavations, fillings, compactions, surface preparation and concrete works of the containment dam, as well as the hydraulic works of the water filtration collection system, including a 24”-pipe in high polyethylene density of a length of 1.6 km. The execution time of these works is six months.
On the other hand, in the Toquepala unit, at 3,200 meters, the company will be responsible for the construction of five new workshops and the transport and logistics facilities of an area currently in operation. Given the characteristics of the project, the work methodology to be used will be Building Information Modeling (BIM). The execution time of the works is eleven months.
